About Cristina Leon

Cristina Leon

As a young girl, I hung out with Great-Grandma, Helen Mae (Enoch) Gleiforst, who was a noted California Impressionist artist, and watched her paint in her studio. She did wonderful landscapes and gardens and florals. Though G-G was certainly an influence in terms of first perking my interest in art, of much greater influence, however, was my mom, also an artist, and the good deal of time I spent hanging out with her in the Santa Barbara City College Art Department. There my mom not only created art but also was a TA for art history and the basic understanding art classes. Often, I’d join her in the slide room where she was pulling slides for her sessions or I’d sit in on them. There I got to look at tons of art on slides and hear...
