Artist's Description
“Helen on the Garden Path” is an original artwork that I made, created from 2 things: One, a cut-out from an antique sepia photograph of my great-grandmother when she was a young teenage girl about 1917 or 1918 (GGma was Helen Enoch Gleiforst, a noted California Impressionist artist!!). And two, the cut-out photo was set into an image of Helen’s own later artwork, a lovely plein aire landscape oil painting she did ca. late 1930s to early 1940s, and a fine example of one of her original paintings.
I find it utterly delightful that GGma is fotobombing her own artwork!! It’s fun to imagine her as a girl having fun ~~ over a hundred years ago!! This piece would bring magic to any child young or older and heck adults too! lol!! .

Often, I’d join her in the slide room where she was pulling slides for her sessions or I’d sit in on them. There I got to look at tons of art on slides and hear...
